You need someone in City Hall who takes health and safety seriously — now more than ever.
My name is Dara Czerwonka, and I want to protect the health of residents & businesses in Escondido!
These are not ordinary times. The people of Escondido need an extraordinary leader who’s a fearless healthcare advocate; who has served as a trustee on the Palomar Health District Board, and who has worked as a nonprofit businesswoman for years; someone who believes and trusts scientists.
Hi — I’m Dara Czerwonka, and I’m running to fill the position of retiring Escondido Councilwoman Olga Diaz. As your advocate and as someone who supports the health of our community, I want to share COVID-19 updates.
The latest numbers in East Escondido (not including District 3)
As of August 13th, there are 582 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the 92027 zip code, all within our population of 53,608 people. That’s 10.8% of our population — somewhat higher than other Escondido zip codes. However, this is still a moderate number considering the housing density in parts of our district.
* Something to note — because people who are asymptomatic are rarely tested, the actual number of cases is likely much higher.
The health of Escondido businesses
Thankfully, small businesses within Escondido are about to receive some relief. In an effort to address the financial burdens many of our small businesses have taken on due to COVID-19, businesses within Escondido are eligible to apply for financial relief through the CARE Act.
* Remember — you have until August 28, 2020, to apply!
The state of our healthcare system
Palomar Health has resumed outpatient services in addition to the full array of inpatient services. This means that people experiencing life-threatening symptoms should NOT delay seeking care. What's more, Palomar Health has an ample supply of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and is fully staffed, ready to go.
